What Are NVQ’s And Apprenticeships?

An NVQ (National Vocational Qualification) or Apprenticeship is a work-based qualification where you learn practical, work related tasks to develop practical skills and theoretical knowledge to enable you to do a job effectively. They are achieved through assessment and training. This qualification is suitable for candidates with no knowledge of an area and starting from scratch or for a candidate wanting to improve their current skills.

What Is QCF?

Qualifications Credit Framework (QCF) is the structure of how qualifications are delivered. Qualifications are made up of credits, where the learner achieves a number of credits. The qualification size is determined by how many credits are achieved. An Award is between 1 and 12 credits. A Certificate is between 13 and 36 credits and a Apprenticeship is 37 credits or more.

What Are Apprenticeships?

Apprenticeships are ‘On the job’ training schemes. CATS deliver Work Based Apprenticeship training. Your staff EARN & LEARN. Our Apprenticeships caters for those employed, of all abilities and offers the opportunity to develop knowledge, competence and qualifications employers demand in the job market. We come to you so there’s no disruption to your business.

Apprenticeships generally take between 6 and 18 months depending on the level and whether you are required to do Functional Skills.

Apprenticeships are available for all ages who have a contract of employment in the relevant sector.

* For organisations with less than 250 employees, most courses are fully funded.

Our Policy

CATS vigorously promote and encourage dignity, respect, self-worth and self-esteem as positive ways of working with all learners, colleagues, associates and any external contractual partnerships.   • Ensures that it’s services are not of an inferior quality on account of ethnicity, sexual orientation or any grounds on which discrimination can occur
  • Plan with each learner and their employer what they want and need and how they will be provided with the required service. It should not be assumed everyone wants the same thing as this will be influenced by the individuals’ gender, culture, personal choices and other characteristics
  • Instil an attitude of staff awareness throughout the organisation to ensure any form of discriminatory behaviour such as offensive or abusive language, does not occur and to robustly communicate that it is unacceptable in whatever form it may take and from whichever person
  • Ensure that all complaints or allegations are addressed promptly and properly
